God Bless and Play Hard Gamers! What's happening gamers and gamerettes? Today's game review is another retro game, and one of the most memorable and mind training and most enjoyable video games of all time. The game I will review today is Arkanoid, developed by Taito and published by Romstar in 1986. This game is based on Atari's Breakout games of the 1970s. The game's title refers to a doomed mothership from which the player's ship, the Vaus, escapes into an alternate dimension in outer space. This is a game that I highly remember as a child, in which me and my siblings would often play. However, my older siblings who had an Atari and played in the Arcades during trips with parents or hangouts, played this game before me. This game actually teaches you how to move, think, and be quick as lightning. But the most entertaining thing about this game is how harder and challenging it gets the more you progress. Plot. Our story opens with a monologue that reads: "THE TIME AND ERA OF THIS STORY IS UNKNOWN. AFTER THE MOTHERSHIP "ARKANOID" WAS DESTROYED, A SPACECRAFT "VAUS" SCRAMBLED AWAY FROM IT. BUT ONLY TO BE TRAPPED IN SPACE WARPED BY SOMEONE........" What's happening gamers and gamerettes? Today's game review is Mega Man Battle & Chase for the PlayStation, developed and published by Capcom, and distributed by Infogrames. The game was originally released in Japan on March 20, 1997 on the PlayStation, and in Europe on April 1998. Battle & Chase was never released in the United States until 2006 as part of the Mega Man X Collection for the PS2, Xbox, and Nintendo Gamecube. This game has many similarities to Nintendo's Mario Kart games as Mega Man and various characters compete in a fun and futuristic kart racing game with an emphasis on combat. This game unlike other games in the Mega Man series is a racing game that is to me like a combination of Mario Kart in terms of combat, and F-Zero in terms of a futuristic setting. Plot. A new hit show called Battle & Chase has been released. It is an extreme racing show, that pays a large amount of money to the winner: 10 million Zenny. Soon, word reaches out that robots want to compete in the race for their own gain, and it becomes a major challenge where the stakes are high, and the reward is higher. Mega Man enters the competition to help Dr. Light repair his computer which broke during a thunderstorm. But someone wants to steal all that money, and that person is Dr. Wily. What's happening gamers and gamerettes? Today PlayStation uploaded the trailer of the new PSVita title, Resistance: Burning Skies. In this game you play as New York firefighter and National Guardsmen, Tom Riley. As Riley, you are about to face the brutal Chimeran invasion force in this next installment of the highly successful FPS game series of the PlayStation. In other news, AlphaOmegaSin ranted the latest thing that Sony has been planning, and that is to put ads in upcoming games in order to interrupt gameplay. You know what, I actually agree with him because, is Sony trying to be YouTube and Hulu in terms of gaming? For example, if I'm about to beat a boss, the ad comes out and then the next thing when it's over, I get my ass beat. Come on Sony! I thought you were smarter than that.
Well, I sincerely hope that Microsoft and Nintendo don't suffer the same fate. The gaming world is like crumbling in some ways these days. God Bless and Play Hard Gamers! Happy Memorial Day gamers and gamerettes! Today's game review is Call of Duty: World at War - Final Fronts for the PlayStation 2, a counterpart to the original World at War game. This game unlike the original one developed by Treyarch, it was developed by Rebellion Development and published by Activision with a release date on November 10, 2008 for the PlayStation 2. This game has it's own set of missions involving the U.S.A. fighting in the Pacific against the Japanese as well as the Battle of the Bulge in Europe, while the British advance on the Rhine River into Germany. Unlike other Call of Duty titles, this game has no online multiplayer and it's reduced from Rated Mature to Teen, and this is also the last Call of Duty game for the PlayStation 2. So in honour of all the soldiers who served not only in World War II, but also in various wars such as the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, World War I, North Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and the War on Terror, it's time to review this game. Plot. This game takes place during the final days of World War II, where Private Miller and his squadron, the Marine Corps 1st Division, are advancing against the Japanese during the Battle of Okinawa. Another part involves other American soldiers battling against the Nazis in the Battle of the Bulge, while British forces advance against the Germans in the Rhine River. What's happening gamers and gamerettes? Today's game review is Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, developed and published by Tecmo. Originally released in Japan on April 6, 1990 and then a month later in North America, and finally a year later in Amiga and PC. This game was re-released for the Wii Virtual Console on October 15, 2007. Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos is a sequel to the original Ninja Gaiden which came out to America a year earlier and in Japan in Christmas of 88. Now this game has the same gameplay with Ryu, but with new abilities, items, power-ups and even 1-Ups. Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaosis just as hard as the original game but it is increasingly awesome as it's predecessor. Ryu reprises his role as the main protagonist of the game, and this time he is on a mission to stop an evil emperor named Ashtar, who wants to use the Dark Sword of Chaos to take over the world. This game in Japan is known as Ninja Ryukenden II: Ankoku no Jashinken (忍者龍剣伝 II 暗黒の邪神剣?, lit. "Legend of the Ninja Dragon Sword II: The Demonic Sword of Darkness"). Plot. A year has passed since Ryu Hayabusa defeated the evil Jaquio, and avenged the death of his father Ken. However, in the Realm of Darkness, an evil emperor named Ashtar has been informed of Jaquio's destruction; he then devises a plan to rule the world by opening the Gate of Darkness. A U.S. Army Special Intelligence unit member named Robert T. Sturgeon is sent to find Ryu Hayabusa to take down Ashtar. Robert then informs Ryu that Irene Lew has been captured and must head to the Tower of Lahja to save her. But something much worse is behind all of this. Greetings gamers and gamerettes! Today's review will teach you the ancient art of Kung-Fu at a video game level. The review of the day is Yie Ar Kung-Fu for Arcade, MSX, Commodore 64, NES, and more. Yie Ar Kung-Fu was developed and published by Konami with a worldwide release in 1985. This is one of the very first arcade fighting games of it's time long before Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Killer Instinct and Dead or Alive ever existed. This game is played for one, but also you can play for two players, however it's with alternating turns. This game first appeared in Arcades, and later in home consoles. But in my opinion, the Arcade version is better than the home console versions because they have more fighters and it is a lot more challenging in many ways. Now students, prepare yourselves for your first Kung Fu lesson with this review. Gameplay. Players take control of the main character Oolong (Lee in home versions), in which they fight against a number of Kung Fu masters given by the name. In Arcades, they use the joystick to move the character, and buttons are used for punching and kicking. Some of these masters have weapons such as fighting sticks, chains, throwing stars, fireballs, and so on. After beating a number of characters, players enter bonus stages in which they have to hit the objects that come at them from both sides before they're hit. If they're hit, they will lie down on their backs with their legs apart (players flailing their feet). When players defeat opponents without getting hit once, they earn 5000 Perfect Points. The same thing goes when they destroy 20 objects in bonus stages, and earn 5000 points. Hello gamers and gamerettes! Today's news is that my announcement for this July is Batman Month. That's right, for video game walkthroughs on YouTube, my next walkthroughs consists of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, thus promoting the release of the upcoming Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. I do these guides because I'm looking forward to the movie, and also because I'm a huge fan of the Caped Crusader since childhood when I saw the cartoons of the early 90s. Also on GCGameReviews, I'll be reviewing Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and other Batman games such as the Sega Genesis version of Batman: The Video Game, Adventures of Batman and Robin, and so on. So prepare yourselves this July for Batman Month. God Bless and Play Hard Gamers! What's happening gamers and gamerettes? It's been awhile, because I do have the flu, which I hate it. Alright, so today's review is the hit PS3 FPS game, Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance: Fall of Man was developed by Insomniac and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, originally released in Japan on November 11, 2006, titled in Japan as Resistance: Jinrui Botsuraku no Hi (RESISTANCE 〜人類没落の日〜) and six days later in North America. Resistance had positive critical reception shortly after it's released, but at the same time there was some controversy where SCEA and Insomniac embattled with the Church of England for using the interior shots of the Manchester Cathedral to recreate the building within the game, as well as "promoting violence" in it. My friend from work actually suggested that I played this game and lent it to me, which I truly loved since first playing it and my thanks goes to him. This game has multiplayer as well, and I do this review because I never had the chance to beat this game despite the time's I played it when I didn't have a PS3, until 2010. Plot. In 1949, an alien race known as the Chimera have invaded the Asian and European Continents; many of the nations have fallen leaving nothing but ruins. In the following year, the Chimera have crossed the English Channel by digging tunnels linked to mainland Europe. Within days, millions are infected while most were likely killed or converted into the Chimera. The United Kingdom then lost the war. Our story begins in 1951, where American soldier Nathan Hale is on his way to England alongside a large task force to retrieve a British secret weapon that can be used to fight the Chimera. But the forces were wiped out quickly by a spire Chimeran attack, infecting every soldier with the virus, soon after landing in York. Hale becomes one of the infected, but does not fall into a coma. He then possesses great strength, speed, limited regeneration, and his irises have become gold/yellow, somehow like the Chimera. With the help of many allies, Hale continues the war effort hoping to put down the Chimeran threat. |
