Story. Every century, the forces of good mysteriously begin to weaken. Thus the power of Dracula revives itself, he grows even more powerful every one hundred years. Dracula has revived many times, however, his plans were persistently foiled by the Belmont family clan. One night, the Count rises from his grave, and begins an attack on the countryside, and the legendary Simon Belmont, takes his Vampire Killer whip, and heads to Castlevania to confront his enemy in this eternal conflict
Music. The music is absolutely epic, and Simon Belmont has his theme for the first time. Also, Bloody Tears, Vampire Killer and Beginning are played once again in the three last stages of the game. Michiru Yamane composed most of the music in the game. I also really liked the three themes of the submerged city, especially the third one which sounds very jazzy like.
Good Aspect. What's really good about this game is how they designed the castle and most of the level, the people at Konami did a fantastic job for it and they worked hard for it, every sweat they had. I also liked how Simon's whip techniques were upgraded, he could attack up and down while in mid air. My personal favorite stages in the game are: The Submerged City, the Haunted Ballroom, the Prison, the Treasury, and the Clock Tower.
Bad Aspect. The usual bad aspect of Castlevania is those Medusa heads, I hate them with a passion. You can also get killed by bats, floating eyes, blocks?, and books? Come on! Censorship continues here in America because of some things the game originally has in the Japanese Version, for example Dracula's grave with a cross on top was removed to avoid the anger of religious groups, and also statues in the nude had to be covered to avoid the uprising of censors. And the green slime in the prison stage was actually blood.
Bosses. The bosses were excellent and Death makes a comeback and with two henchmen who appear in SOTN, Slogra and Gaibon. Some bosses looked cool and some bosses looked kind of corny. Also, one of the bosses in the game, the dancing specters are named Fred Askare and Paula Abghoul, a reference to famous singers Fred Astaire, and Paula Abdul.
Overall. Super Castlevania IV is a beautiful and great game to look at, you can download it on the Wii or play it in the ZSNES and SNES9x emulators when you download the roms. My final score for this great game, is a 9.7 out of 10
