Mega Man 2 is the sequel to the original Mega Man, where the hero of the game continues his battle against Dr. Wily, and his army of evil robots and his Robot Masters. Though the gameplay remains the same as it's predecessor, Mega Man can now obtain new items after completing certain stages. The music of the game was really epic, and the theme is unforgettable, and I believe that it should be Mega Man's main theme all the time. However, this game can also have players select difficulties such as: Normal and Difficult, but in Japan it is only in Difficult mode, which has players bowing in reverence to this game.
Plot. Sometime in the near distant future, Mega Man has defeated the evil Dr. Wily for the first time. But this would not be the end, as the mad scientist has more tricks up his sleeve. Dr. Wily has built a new fortress, and eight new Robot Masters of his own design, and once again begins his campaign for world domination. Dr. Light, Mega Man's creator sends Mega Man to stop Wily and his Robot Masters once and for all.
Concept. Like in the first game, Mega Man must fight eight Robot Masters and gain their abilities. After defeating all eight of them, they head to Wily's tower to fight certain bosses, and also fight the eight original bosses for the second time. However, these battles take place in a single room rather than a series of linearly connected rooms. The room contains teleportation devices that lead to each Robot Master. The devices can be entered in any order, but are not labeled. Once the bosses are defeated again, the player must fight Dr. Wily.
Design and Development. The game is of 8-bits of graphics and 2D character rendered sprites. Keiji Inafune stated during development, that this is his favorite Mega Man game of all time. Inafune worked as the designer of the game, and it had more improved graphics, audio, and gameplay. This game featured more cool weapons and arsenal as well, which makes this game unique and having many great qualities.
Tips and Strategies. There will be nerve-wrecking times you will have in some stages. There are platforms that appear in various areas, and then disappear when others appear. You have to time their appearances, and then jump to the next ones. Some enemies like the Fan Fiend will try to either suck you in, or push you to the edge, and you have to kill him quickly before he kills you. Some precipices will have enemies rising, and you have to know when to jump and when not to.
Rantings. The disappearing blocks are the things that I hate the most in this game, they tested my patience. Another thing that tested my patience, and left me unleashing my inner Bruce Lee against the wall, is the lasers on the second stage of Wily's Fortress, if you're hit by one of those, you will die. Also, this game Normal or Difficult is still very hard. Floating platforms can be excruciating at times as well.
Good Aspects. This is my favorite Mega Man game, the music and audio are excellent and epic. This game has higher replay value, and the password system can help gamers get back to the time they left the game and had to go to work or school. If you really want to play this game, you can download it on the PlayStation Network, or on the Wii Virtual Console for 500 Wii Points.
Overall. This game is a must play and must have. I give this game a 9 out of 10
