Plot. In 1476, Count Dracula has started to ravage all of Europe with an army of monsters. His sole purpose is to destroy humanity, after the humans killed his beloved wife Lisa, mistakenly executed as a witch for preparing medicine for the sick. Only one man stands up with his whip, his name is Trevor Belmont. Trevor sets on a journey to Castlevania along with three new allies: Sypha Belnades, a young priestess, Grant DaNasty, a cursed pirate for opposing Dracula, and Alucard, a dhampir with magical powers, and the ability to turn into a bat. Together, they fight to put an end to the evil vampire lord.
Concept. In this game, players take the role of Trevor Belmont, an ancestor of Simon and descendant of Leon Belmont. They travel to over 13 stages, in which they can choose. Depending on the stage they choose, they can recruit either Alucard, Sypha and Grant. They fight through many of these stages of their choosing, until they fight against the Count himself.
Characters. Trevor Belmont makes his first debut in the game, alongside Alucard, Sypha and Grant. Alucard has a much bigger role in Symphony of the Night. However, Trevor, Sypha and Grant are fake in SOTN and are mini-bosses. Trevor returns in the sequel to Dracula's Curse in the game, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.
Music. The music continues to inspire many Castlevania fans. In this game, the theme song "Beginning" is introduced, in which it will be featured in games such as: Super Castlevania IV, and Dracula X.
Rantings. Well, the Medusa Heads continue to be a nuisance in Castlevania. Also Sypha's physical attacks are very weak for one thing. Also I found Alucard's magic attacks to be corny in a way, and does not attack with a sword until SOTN. I could not believe I had to wait seven years to see that. In the Castlevania series, any flying little creature bothers me to death. These little bastards will piss you off, make you cry, break your controller, or throw it against the wall, just like my older brother did when he was a kid.
Good Aspect. The game has a very good storyline which adds more depth in the game. Also the multiple endings were also a fine addition to the game. Alucard continues to be my favorite character in the saga of this epic game.
Overall. Dracula's Curse is a great game in the series. My final score is a 8 out of 10.
