However, the bad thing and insult to injury is that the game was very very short, and not well recieved by critics and fans of the movie. My suggestion to you gamers is that the movie is way better than the game. The gameplay is very excruciating as well, and it's harder difficulty in Expert Mode will have you punching the walls in anger. Now it's time to review and help you tame the beast that is this game.
Plot. On August 11, 2011, there are several sightings of meteorites crashing into Earth's oceans near several major cities including New York, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, London, Paris, Barcelona, Hamburg, and Sydney. But these objects have a major threat inside, a horde of hostile aliens that plan to take the planet's most valuable resource, water. Now, Marine Staff Sgt. Michael Nantz leads a platoon to drive off the hostile forces before it is too late.
Concept. The purpose of the game is to complete many objectives while battling the aliens, then locate and destroy their command center before it is too late. There will be times when players have to help Nantz achieve his objective, otherwise he will buy the farm.
Design. The graphics are rendered in 3D, while scenarios have motion-comic like aspects. The game is mainly based on the movie, so it's pretty obvious that they did not use the live action sequences before the game, unlike Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
Rantings. The controls are excruciating in the game, and my other major bother about it, is that the game was too short and very rushed. Also, why press the square button to climb a ladder. I mean, in Call of Duty and Medal of Honor you did not need to press a button to climb up and down a ladder, I mean it was really stupid to do that. Also, the aiming can be nerve-wrecking at times, and throwing grenades too.
Good Aspects. The motion-comic sequences were ok, and the dialogues too. But this game does not save itself from the wrath of the movie fans. This game has very low replay value and it is very repetitive.
Overall. My final score for this game is a 3 out of 10.
