The game was developed by Electronic Arts, in collaboration with the company that helped develop the film, New Line Cinema. Also, this is one of the best games based on a movie. Though most games based on a movie ended up terrible, this one changed the tides on them.
Plot. It begins with the conclusion of "The Two Towers". Gandalf arrives with an army to help Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Theoden King achieve victory at the Battle of the Hornburg. They are victorious, but then the story is split in three parts. Frodo Sam, and Gollum continue their quest in reaching Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, while escaping from Osgiliath, fighting past Orcs to Shelob's Lair, the stairs of Cirith Ungol, until Mount Doom. Gandalf travels through Isengard, fighting Orcs with the help of Ents, and also helps Faramir's father and Merry to defend Minas Tirith from the Nazgul, and the Uruk Hai. And Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, travel through the Paths of the Dead. They get help from the King of the Dead after fighting him, to aid Gondor in the War of the Ring. After that, they travel to the Battle of Pelennor Fields, and finally at the Black Gate.
My favorite characters to play with are: Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Frodo. Since I was a kid, I always had a thing for swords, and the fact of playing this game, is that I always chose Aragorn.
Concept. First you start playing as Gandalf, in the conclusion of the Battle of the Hornburg where "The Two Towers" left off. After beating the first stage, you can choose the three paths in the game. After completing all three paths, you can choose from Gandalf to Gimli, to fight in the Battle of the Black Gate at Mount Doom. Then in the final part of the game, you must battle and kill Gollum, in order to destroy the One Ring.
Design. The game is rendered in 3D graphics, and some live-action cinematics from the movie are shown during narration sequences. When the game is about to begin, the live-action sequences then change into 3D.
Voice Acting. Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Viggo Mortensen and many others who played the characters in the movie, lent their voices to reprise their roles in the game.
Rantings. Though the game is very well done and all, one thing I do not like about this game is the camera control. I think that the developers were too careless and rushed. Sometimes the camera's control had me losing the game at times.
Good Aspects. The game is really good, and the combat was very well made. It was also great to have the actors of the movie voicing their characters in the game. The graphics were outstanding as well. I also liked playing in three different paths in the game, just like in the movie, where there are three different paths where the characters are going.
Overall. This game has high replay value, and it is worth playing. I give this game an 8 out of 10
