In honor of tonight's Super Bowl, Tecmo Bowl came into mind for me to review, so let's put on the jerseys of our favorite teams, take our footballs, and enjoy the game tonight, and may the best team win tonight. Hopefully more who watch this review are going for the Packers, and if you're going for the Steelers, then let us enjoy a great game tonight. Tecmo Bowl is one of the very first NFL based video games, long before Madden NFL, Quarterback Club, and NFL Blitz ever existed.
Plot. As a sports game, this game has no plot at all as you play as your favorite teams.
Some teams have two or three passing plays and some have two running plays with two passing plays. The player could choose between 3 modes: 1 player, 2 players, and coach. In 1 player mode, the player picked a football team and played against the computer. After every game that the player wins, the computer picked another team to play as, and the player stays with his/her original choice. In 2 player and coach modes, the player and another human will play one game but the players only chose the plays in the coach mode
Design. As a sports game, there is no meaning in the graphics to the game. You could play as any of your favorite NFL players of the 1980's such as Joe Montana, Dan Marino, and so on.
Rantings. Well, this game seems unrealistic in playing football because there are no penalties, fumbling, or safety. Also playing against the computer can be from easy to hard, because the computer is faster.
Good Aspects. This happens to be one of my favorite games. It is a must play, and has high replay value.
Overall. This game gets an 8 out of 10.
