Street Fighter The Movie is a video game that is based on the live-action movie of the same name, starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Ming Na, Kylie Minogue, and Byron Mann. When the movie was released, it was universally bashed by critics and fans of the video game series due to it's poor casting, terrible writing and acting, and a watered down storyline that drastically distanced itself from the story of the game. This game will piss you off as much as the movie did, which also pissed me off as well due to the laughable bad acting it has, and the poor casting as well.
If the Angry Nintendo Nerd agrees with me, this game f****ing sucks. The graphics are horrible, the voice acting sucks, especially in the arcade version of the game.
Plot. The plot of the game follows the same one as the movie. M. Bison has captured many hostages during the war on the city of Shadaloo, most of them are rescue and relief workers of the Allied Nations. Colonel William F. Guile, leads an army into the city, and prepares a final assault on Bison, who also captured three troopers including his best friend, Charlie. Chun Li is also after Bison, who murdered her father years ago. On the other side, two small time hustlers, Ryu and Ken are recruited by Guile to blend with Sagat and Vega in order to infiltrate Bison's lair.
Concept. You can choose over 12 characters, except that Blade and Sawada are not part of the game's storyline. Blade is only an Arcade made character, and it is the worst character ever, along with two other Bison troopers as well.
Design. The graphics are terrible, I think that the sprites were too much of a ripoff of the sprites in the Mortal Kombat series.
Voice Acting. In the home version, Japanese voice actors were set to voice the characters, which was better than the Arcade version, voiced by their actor counterparts. The voice acting in the arcade version is exaggerated, the death cries of Chun Li, Ken, Guile and others sound like they're going down a waterslide, and Zangief sounds like he's vomiting.
Rantings. I hate everything about this game, it's nothing like the series and it is considered to be an epic failure. The sprite renderings were ripoffs of the sprite renders of Mortal Kombat. The voice acting was horrible as said earlier in the arcade version. The moves of the characters were so watered down, crude, and stupid, just like in the movie. Blanka and Charlie are NOT the same person, Steven E. De Souza oughta get his ass kicked for that. He should have NEVER EVER wrote that movie.
Good Aspects. Only good thing about the home version, is that the Japanese were smart enough to lend their voices. Better than the Arcade version.
Overall. If someone tells you that this game is awesome, run, run away and NEVER play this game. This is a sorry excuse for a Street Fighter game. I give this game a 1 out of 10
