It is also known that to counter the racism, though enemies are predominantly black, they used Caucasian and Hispanic characters. The character of Sheva was of mixed race, and it also served to counter the racism, that most critics and the media believed.
Plot. Six years have passed since the downfall of the Umbrella Corporation. Chris Redfield has become a member of the BSAA (Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance) and is sent to investigate possible Bio-Organic Weapon smuggling in Africa. Upon arriving at the Kijuju Autonomous Zone, he meets his new partner, Sheva Alomar of the BSAA's West African branch. Their mission is to rendezvous with the "Alpha Team" who where intercepting a B.O.W smuggler named Ricardo Irving. When they attempt to meet with their contact, they witness his execution at the hands of the infected people, the pair must then fight together to complete their mission. But their ordeal is only a prelude of more terrors to come, such as returning and vengeful enemies.
Concept. The players begin at the Quarantine Zone, where they must battle a horde of Majini enemies and monsters, some of the unlucky survivors, well, they just don't get rescued. Typical eh? After the KAZ area, players go through the tribal village, mines, and castle like area that lead into the TriCell building. At the end, they head to a ship where they confront the main antagonists of the game into one big bloodbath showdown.
Design. The games graphics have been enhanced and have more realistic features than the graphics of Resident Evil 4, and it's previous games. Chris Redfield has a more muscular build and a more bad ass look. Jill Valentine looks hotter than she ever did in the previous installments. The character of Sheva Alomar has a great build and she is of mixed race, as the developers were trying to counter the racism that many people claimed about this game. Excella Gionne was modeled after model and actress Nina Fehren. Albert Wesker looked more evil than in the old games.
Voice Acting. Roger Craig Smith (Ezio Auditore in Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood) provided the voice for Chris Redfield, and I think it was a great choice. Ken Lally replaced DC Douglas as the voice of Wesker. Ken Lally was good but to me, Richard Waugh will always be Wesker, since he was more evil sounding. Patricia Ja Lee (Cassie Chan in Power Rangers: Turbo and Power Rangers in Space) voices Jill Valentine. Nina Fehren modeled and voiced the character Excella Gionne.
Music. The composer of the game is Kota Suzuki. His score was electronic, but included 15 minutes of orchestral underscore, which was produced at Newman Scoring Stage at 20th Century FOX studios in Los Angeles, California.
Memories. The extra content "Lost in Nightmares" was awesome and gave me a lot of nostalgia from the original game. Because Spencer's Mansion reminded me of the estate of the first game. When I played that mini-game, I was remembering the times that I played the first RE game when I was 12 years old, so many good memories and good times. Now we got a bunch of kids who only play war games like: Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Counterstrike and whatever FPS game they can find.
Rantings. The Majini enemies that I hated the most where the Duvalia. Shooting them in their weak points was excruciating because they will just keep coming. Unless you had a Flash Grenade it was ok, but if not, then you'll just waste half of your ammo. The Majini Commandos were also a bother because most of them had RPG bazookas. Another one I hated was the Gatling Gun Majini, which was a more bothersome and stronger version of J.J. from RE4. In the Mercenaries, Excella was horrible, because she does nothing but slap, kick and taunt. So corny. Those insect like monsters were also a bother, they had me saying "Where are the Starship Troopers when you need them?"
Good Aspects. Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition is a better version of the original game. For those who could not buy the original game like I did. I suggest you buy this game, which to me was the best $36.00 I've ever spent in a GameStop. The game and it's contents have very high replay value, and it is also fun to enjoy. The boss battles will have you plunged with hours of excitement that you will get off the edge of your seat. The storyline, the graphics, and the music are very well made. Great job Capcom.
Overall. Resident Evil 5 is like the best in the series since Resident Evil 2. I really enjoyed playing this game and it is one of the best survival horror games ever created by Capcom. I hope they make more. Resident Evil 5 gets a 10 out of 10.
