Plot. Two months have passed since the Mansion Incident in the Arklay Mountains, and a day before Resident Evil 2. The T-Virus breaks out in Raccoon City, infecting almost the entire population. The police try to take over the situation, unfortunately, they are overpowered. Jill Valentine, bursts out from her apartment, to escape the city. Along the way, she encounters with U.B.C.S soldier, Carlos Oliveira, and they decide to team up in order to escape the nightmare. However, they are stalked by a juggernaut creature known as Nemesis, whose sole purpose, is to track down and eliminate all S.T.A.R.S members, since they became a threat to Umbrella's plans.
Gameplay. Players control Jill Valentine, and they can find all kinds of weapons to fight the zombies and many other creatures that are lurking the doomed city. They can find also healing items. This game also introduces decision sequences, in which players decide ways to fight or run, or save themselves from serious danger. Nemesis is a very tough boss to deal with. Jill & Carlos get to go around the city into stores, parks, buildings, sewers, and facilities. The game introduced the 180 degree spin where players can switch away from enemies faster. This was later used in other installments. It also introduced the dodge move where you can dodge an enemy's encounter.
Ammo Combination. Another entirely new feature is making ammunition with gunpowder that you find laying around. The gunpowders are labeled with A, B and C. A-type gunpowder is hand gun bullets, B-type gunpowder is shotgun shells, and C-type gunpower, which is created by mixing A and B together, make standard grenade bullets for the Grenade Launcher.
Live Selection Mode. At certain points in the game, the screen will turn white and the player will enter Live Selection mode. Live Selection Mode will prompt you to choose between one of two possible actions. Choose wisely and choose fast because there is only a limited amount of time to make the decision, otherwise the game will choose whatever decision is highlighted. Most live selection modes occur when the Nemesis finds you, or gets you into a situation. Choosing a certain situation will put the Nemesis into a dead state. During this time, you can pick up weapons or gun parts from him that he might be carrying. For example, when you are in the kitchen hiding from the Nemesis and you choose to ignite the gas, blowing up most of the building, the Nemesis will be laying dead when you come out of your hiding spot.
Bad Aspect. What I hated about this game is the Hunters, they are extremely agile and annoying. When your health condition is in Caution, the Hunter will either jump to decapitate you, or eat you alive. From the pit of my stomach I just can't stand them to tell the truth. Only way to kill them fast is with a Magnum, considered to be the best weapon in the game. Nemesis in some ways was quite an annoyance, but he is not as much of a bad aspect in this game. The dogs, oh those vicious poochies make me sick when they attack in groups.
Good Aspect. I really like what they did in this game, and also taking place before RE2, which is my personal favorite. The epilogue scenes were great as well after ending the game. I also enjoyed playing the Mercenaries game, and the best guy to play with in that mini-game is Mikhail, he has the best weapons in the game. What I also enjoyed was the startling moments that Nemesis gave me. Everytime I heard that theme where he is closer, I would just tremble and wet my pants, especially playing at night. A more memorable thing, is Nemesis' constant moaning of STARRRRRS!
Overall. This game is a MUST for Resident Evil newbies and veterans like myself. I give this game 9.6/10
