We all know how many movies based on comic books and video games rock. But in terms of the movies based on our favorite video game franchises and some forgotten ones, some of them were so crappy that butchered some game franchises. Such as the one I am about to mention. People like Christophe Gans, Yves Simoneau, and Gisaburo Sugii had made justice to the games, while some names like Paul W.S. Anderson, Justin Marks, Steven E. De Souza, Rocky Morton and his wife Annabel Jankel, and the infamous Uwe Boll had butchered them with crappy storyline, poor casting, unnecessary sex scenes, and that overrated Kung Fu Matrix style fighting. Now, I'll start with the worst movies based on video games before the next article coming tomorrow which will involve movies based on video games that were good or decent. Uwe Boll Movies. All of them sucked: Far Cry, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Postal, Bloodrayne Trilogy, and the Dungeon Siege movies all sucked so hard. Seriously, this guy should quit while he still can. Uwe Boll is the new Ed Wood of Hollywood. Doom. I have played the very first Doom game for PC since 1996. Doom is one of the very first FPS games of all time, as well as one of the most controversial ones due to extreme graphic violence, and loads of satanic imagery. But this movie was not good. Most people said it sucked because The Rock was the bad guy, but I say it was bad because it lacked the type of feeling from the game, and my only favorite scene in the movie is the first person scene, where Karl Urban fights a bunch of monsters. Resident Evil: Extinction - Resident Evil: Retribution. The last three Resident Evil movies completely sucked, they were nothing like the games. The only RE movies I liked were the first one and the second. But as for the rest, they all sucked. To me, the RE movies caused the downfall of the Resident Evil franchise which went from scary to action based, and then Crapcom deciding to make it like Gears of War with RE: ORC and Call of Duty just to appeal to American gamers. Tekken. As much as I love this fighting franchise, this was another major flop. Dead or Alive. Remember the Dead or Alive games? All those sexy ladies kicking butt. Well, this movie was an utter and complete waste of time. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. The first movie was great since it had a great storyline mixing both Mortal Kombat 1 and 2. Though this game was mainly based on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, I hated it. This game lacked a story, and the actor who played Shao Kahn was terrible. Double Dragon. I loved the old games when I was a kid. The only game I hated was Double Dragon 3. Now, the movie completely sucked and this one makes Super Mario Bros look like an Oscar winning movie. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. If you hated the 1994 Street Fighter movie, you'll hate this a lot more. Though this movie was like a Street Fighter Alpha type of movie, it still sucked. Why did Bison look like some Third Reich dude? Isn't he black haired? Super Mario Bros. Complete cheesiness, poor casting, directing, and writing. This movie was worlds away from the Mario game. Bob Hoskins admitted that to him playing Mario was "a fucking nightmare". Dennis Hopper, God rest his soul, also stated that Koopa was the worst character he had ever played. Coming soon, I will add more detail about it. Even the agents of the husband and wife team, Rocky Morton and Annabel Jenkel told them to get off the studio. Street Fighter. This movie was a complete disaster. To quote Raiden "The Lin Kuei have a history of making ruinous choices". Well, to be exact, Capcom has a major history of making ruinous choices. Such as lending rights to Hollywood for Street Fighter and Resident Evil. Making Resident Evil like Call of Duty, and cancelling Mega Man Legends 3. One game that is an honorable mention on this list is Wing Commander, with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Matthew Lillard. These movies based on video games completely sucked, but in terms of Nintendo, Technos, Bethesda and Ubisoft, they're the ones that learned their lesson after the movie flops based on the games that these companies made. Capcom however seems to go more and more low everyday. Tomorrow, it's all about the best movies based on video games, as well as the good and decent ones.
