The player controls a spaceship with a single objective: destroy enemy spaceships. The vessel has two different weapons: a primary weapon with infinite ammo and a limited supply of bombs. By picking up the "Pow" icons, which sporadically appear throughout the levels, the player can replenish supplies. Similar to Xevious, the game does not have distinctive levels; the background alternates between the surface of a planet and a space field. The game repeats with increased difficulty until the player has lost three lives. A similar game but unreleased was meant to go for the Nintendo Entertainment System was titled Titan Warriors. This game was re-released for the Capcom Classics series of games for PS2, Xbox and PSP.
The Ghosts N Goblins series is one of the most hardest games ever created by Capcom. This game would challenge a gamer's skills, make him/her cry, break their controllers, and even go all Mike Tyson against the wall. Once they have beaten the game, a memory etched for the rest of their lives would live on. And yet I still remember when I saw that message saying: "This room is an illusion and it is a trap devised by Satan. Go ahead dauntlessly, make rapid progress". Think about it, you go through all this torment once again after beating the first run. The same would happen in future games.
According to the Arcade version, the game takes place ten years after an unspecified World War between the two factions. The game follows a commando who must infiltrate an enemy base and foil the enemy's plot to launch missiles. The protagonist must pass through four stages to do so:
- Level 1: Forest
- Level 2: Enemy Outpost ("The Forefront")
- Level 3: Underground Base ("Infiltration")
- Level 4: Final Base
In some computer ports, there is an additional level between levels 3 and 4, featuring enemy helicopters.
God Bless and Play Hard Gamers!
