What's happening gamers? Today is the day that I talk about the best movies based on video games. But take note, that some of them are not like the very best, as some of them were only considered decent. But now, these movies I will mention will have their place from decent to the best. Though some of you may not agree with some movies in this list, I will mention them anyways. Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Though not as good as the first movie, this in my list is a decent one. Lara Croft Tomb Raider. The first one was ok, better than the first one. And to think this one is another movie that is decent Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. I would have said that this movie was the best if it was not titled Final Fantasy. I say decent, because it is not like Final Fantasy at all. Most worlds of Final Fantasy were mostly medieval in a Tolkien style world from FF1 to FF5, to futuristic from FF7 to FF10. Final Fantasy XI took place in the medieval world of Vana'diel, while XII was in Ivalice, the very same world from Final Fantasy Tactics. Final Fantasy XIII went to futuristic again. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. At first I was like "Oh crap, Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince, it's Brokeback Prince of Persia here." But he did in fact looked like the Prince in some ways, though it had the Dagger of Time and Gemma Arteton's character partially based on Farah, this movie was very inaccurate to Sands of Time. I think that they mixed Sands of Time with Warrior Within and Two Thrones. I happen to be a very big fan of all three games, but this one was ok. Resident Evil. The last three movies sucked, but the first one was pretty good actually. Though 20% like the game, having the creatures and zombies, still what I did not like about it is that they took away the scares and added all that Matrix style Kung Fu bullcrap! Resident Evil: Apocalypse. This movie was more like the games since they had Jill, Carlos, Nicholai, and Nemesis. This movie is like a mixture of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, which are my favorites. The character of Angela Ashford was quite based on Sherry Birkin, and an inaccurate thing about this movie is that Nicholai was a good guy, but in the game he was a bad guy. Dead Space: Downfall. Dead Space is my favorite game franchise and fed my survival horror needs after the downfall of the Resident Evil franchise. This movie was a great prequel to the game, and it would have sucked if Uwe Boll was behind it and made it live action. The second animated Dead Space movie titled "Dead Space: Aftermath" was a good interquel between Dead Space and Dead Space 2. Silent Hill. Now THIS is a movie I would consider one of the best. I really liked how Christophe Gans stayed faithful to the game's storyline, but this movie is like he mixed Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2. I liked the inclusion of the cool creatures, and especially the Pyramid Head. Wise choice that Alessa Gillespie and her mother Dahlia were both included in the movie. Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. This actually made JUSTICE to Street Fighter after the movie with Van Damme was a complete and utter disaster. The Street Fighter Alpha movies were ok, and so was The Ties That Bind, the short movie of the hit game Street Fighter IV. Mortal Kombat. It was very faithful to the games, and they included the majority of the characters from the first and second games. Funny moments with Johnny Cage were gold, Bridgette Wilson as Sonya was smoking hot, and Robin Shou was Liu Kang. Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa was perfect as Shang Tsung, and he will return in the second season of Mortal Kombat Legacy. Even though the majority of movies based on video games suck, only a select few are known as decent or the best. I forgot to mention other movies based on video games that truly sucked were Hitman and Max Payne. And the honourable mentions on this list are: Assassin's Creed: Lineage, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, Sonic The Hedgehog The Movie, and fan made movies such as: Metal Gear Solid Philanthropy, The Hero of Time, Mega Man and many more.
