Plot. Some time after the events in Super Metroid, Samus Aran is called by the Biologic Space Laboratories to investigate new readings in SR388. While escorting marines into the caves, she encounters a lethal creature, which after destroying it, a parasite comes out and sticks itself to Samus' body. When she loses consciousness, she is taken by paramedics after her ship crashes launching her escape pod. However, thanks to the vaccine which was extracted from the last Metroid, she was saved from certain death, but she suffered a physical change during operation. She heads to the B.S.L. station, and finds it deserted and the parasite known as X have invaded it, however, there is something far more dangerous behind this attack. And it is up to Samus Aran to save the galaxy once again.
Controls. As usual you move with the directional button, duh!. B button is for shooting, A is for jumping, L and R are for aiming up and down. While jumping you can perform techniques such as wall jumps.
Design. Metroid: Fusion continues in it's 2D action gameplay while in Prime series you can see some 3D action but in first person mode. The game's unique visual looks and effects are very astounding, as much as Super Metroid's look. I love the design they made in this game, Gunpei Yokoi, may he rest in peace, would be proud to see that the series he created was taken to the next level.
Music. I love the music themes such as the boss battles and Ridley's theme has an awesome remix when you fight him once again in his X-Fused form. The suspenseful themes were actually fitting to the game. I really loved how they composed it in this game.
Bad Aspect. My only problem in this game is that Samus gets freezed after being shot by the SA-X's Ice Beam. Well, because of the Metroid vaccine, and Metroids are suspectible to cold. Another problem I have is the fight against Nightmare. That dude is actually quite tricky to beat and so is the Gedo X boss. Another thing I dislike is those bugs that give you quite a nasty amount of damage and avoiding the SA-X when trying to restore power to the station that it is almost impossible to escape. Most of the time, I hated it when boss doors opened their eyes and had no lids in order for you to shoot them and kill them, you just had to wait until their eyelids appeared. Geez.
Good Aspect. I really loved seeing good old Ridley return for this installment. His X-Fused form was really impressive. And from him, you get the Screw Attack. The etecoons and Dachora from Super Metroid make a comeback and this time the friendly bird who teaches you Speed Booster techniques has an offspring. I really loved the sketches in game scenarios and also in the ending and item percentage. Good job Nintendo and R&D1.
Overall. It is said that this is the last Metroid game in the series, I would really wish it never ended, but hey, nothing lasts forever. So I give this game 9/10
