This is one of my favorite fighting games of all time, but this time, instead of only X-Men characters, some Marvel Super Heroes and Supervillains have joined in the action of fighting against the characters of the Street Fighter saga. Though the game was successful, I think they needed more Marvel characters, but all that is fixed in the Marvel vs. Capcom trilogy.
Plot. The heroes of Street Fighter join up with the Marvel Super Heroes to fight against their worst enemies, in which Apocalypse and a robotic version of Akuma, known as Cyber-Akuma are in, to fight against them too.
The fighters can perform all sorts of combos, special attacks, and powerful ones as well. The fighters can perform ultimate attacks with their partners as well, such as Ryu's Shinku Hadouken, and Cyclops' Mega Optic Blast. Marvel heroes include: Spider-Man, Hulk, Cyclops, Wolverine, Captain America, and so on. Three Street Fighter characters are from the Street Fighter Alpha series: Dan, Akuma, and Sakura.
Concept. This game is played up to two players, players can play until reaching Apocalypse and Cyber Akuma, or they can play for tournaments against friends or family.
Design. The intro is awesome, having some motion-comic like sequences, and it has a narrator. Characters are rendered in 2D sprites, despite having anime-like looks. The stages are very well designed, and it's almost like watching an anime, mixed with American cartoons.
Memories. In October 1999, I played this game at my cousin's house with his friends. We truly enjoyed ourselves for hours, since we wanted to play something else besides games like: Mario Kart 64, GoldenEye, Wave Race 64, and Star Fox 64. Those hangouts and sleepovers were great.
Rantings. Cyber Akuma used to get on my nerves because he was unforgivably hard to beat, especially since he's a machine. Also, there were very few Marvel Super Heroes and Street Fighter characters, I believed they needed more.
Good Aspects. This game is really good, and if you're lucky to see an Arcade version, then I assure you, it will be the best 25 cents you've ever spent. You can either beat this game, or play it with your friends.
Overall. I really enjoyed reviewing this game, because I am looking forward to playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3. This game gets an 8.7 out of 10.
