Plot. In the early 22nd Century, the universe faces a brutal unrest, as governments and factions fight for the control of Earth and it's colonies. Then in the 24th Century, the UNSC, develops a new group of super soldiers known as SPARTANS, this is known as the SPARTAN-II Project. Now, humans face an intergalactic threat, a religious hegemony of alien species known as The Covenant. The sole purpose of this hostile race, was the complete obliteration of the human race. One day, the Pillar of Autumn flies to a ringworld known as Halo, and their mission is to find it's purpose. When they are attacked, they send their best soldier, Master Chief, to go to the ringworld and destroy it, along with the covenant, and yet another lethal yet infectious race known as The Flood.
Gameplay. Campaign mode has 4 difficulties: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Legendary. Legendary is the highest, and most difficult setting of the game in story mode. It is for those who have completed the game, and are expecting a more fun, and yet greater challenge. Also, Master Chief can recharge his energy gauge automatically after a few seconds when near death. Most Halo fans enjoy playing online, taking a break from Campaign mode. In Multiplayer mode, players can play online, and battle against their friends, siblings, and people from around the world. Online gaming, brings out the fun in the game. Most play for who is the best Halo player of the world, others play for fun, and yet most play to see who has the highest accuracy of shooting.
Graphics. Halo: Combat Evolved has given gamers a roller-coaster ride with the graphics. The design of the game was very well made by Bungie, and the Master Chief is like a male, yet tougher version of Samus Aran. Both he and Samus are enhanced super warriors, fighting against a hostile alien race. Also, the soldiers and their weapons reminded me of the Federation Army of Starship Troopers, which happens to be one of my favorite futuristic movies.
Music. The music of the game is very epic, and the Halo theme has a very catchy tune that blows everyone away. The main theme was remixed by Mjolnir, which gave it a much more, yet ultimately epic tone.
Rantings. Even the most perfect of games have a flaw, so my rantings of the games are: How come Master Chief dies even if jumping from a higher precipice and landing on ground. The difference is, that Samus from Metroid does not die when she lands from a long fall, I guess that Bungie was actually being too realistic with long falls. Also, some of the covenant weapons pissed me off because they overheated, giving your enemies a very slight advantage. My most hated enemy of the Flood, has to be the Carrier. This guy was a Halo player's worst nightmare, when he exploded, it gave a lot of damage.
Good Aspects. I really enjoyed the storyline of the game, and Master Chief was a great addition to a new generation of video game heroes, preceding the old generation heroes in video games such as: Link, Samus Aran, Captain Falcon, and so on. Also I really liked how Bungie made the Covenant appear to be the space commies, or the Nazi Germany of the universe.
Legacy. Since the release of the first game, Halo has left a major legacy that continues to spawn around the globe. Halo has brought many graphic novels, movie shorts, comic books, novels, and even an unpopular anime OVA comprised of eight episodes. Halo Legends was not very well recieved by fans of the game. The series also has prequels such as: Halo Wars, Halo: Reach, and Halo 3: ODST . Also, graphic artist Monty Oum, created a Halo vs Metroid 3D movie known as Haloid. Master Chief has become an iconic symbol among Halo fans.
Overall. Halo is considered to be the cult-classic of fans of the series. It is a game with incredible gameplay, concept, story, and music that will have gamers jump off their seats. Halo: Combat Evolved gets a 10 out of 10.
