Plot. The story revolves around a Dark Knight named Cecil Harvey, who is captain of the powerful Red Wings of Baron, who returns to his kingdom after a raid for the Water Crystal in Mysidia. When he returns he questions the King's motives, and then, the King in an angry expression relieves Cecil of his command and sends him on another mission with his best friend Kain. Accompanied by more allies such as Rydia, Cid, Rosa, Edge, Tellah and others; they will be in a perilous adventure full of action, redemption, love, betrayal and other different mysteries that are yet to be discovered.
Concept. You first begin with Cecil and Kain to go the the Land of Summoners, and then you join with Rydia after saving her life and more allies such as Rosa, Tellah, Edward and so on. Then you go on a quest to save the world from the evil Golbez. And explore new worlds as well
Graphics. Like the original SNES and PS game, Final Fantasy IV Advance is sprite rendered. After being released on the DS. Final Fantasy IV was seen fully rendered in CGI and 3D, thus removing it's orignal sprite rendering.
Characters. Most characters in this game have many different classes. Cecil is a Knight, Kain is a Dragoon, Rosa a White Mage, Rydia a Summoner and Black Mage and so on. Cid reappears once again and as an airship pilot and mechanic. He joins the party in battle in some moments. There are also different races, such as the dwarves of the underworld, the Lunarians in the moon and also the Hummingways. The character Namingway is a Hummingway that allows players to change the names of Characters Cecil's class change is to a Paladin after his quest at Mount Ordeals.
Music and Sound. As I always say in a Final Fantasy review. Nobuo Uematsu is a GOD of Final Fantasy music, the music is so memorable, especially the fight music with the Four Fiends. In the Nintendo DS version, voice acting is featured for the first time. Cecil was voiced by voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, who is well known for his role as the Prince, in the 2003 video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Rantings. I sincerely don't like the scene where Golbez's hand steals a crystal instead of getting up and stealing it like he does in the DS. Another thing I have a problem is the high level of random encounters in some places. Like Mt. Ordeals, which those zombies don't seem to give it up. And Kain, who is considered to be strong easily gets manipulated by Golbez, yet he is a valuable member of the party. I sincerely hated that spoony bard Edward, he is very weak and useless, he's such a chicken, running away from a battle after being so weak.
Good Aspect. I really loved the story and enjoyed the gameplay as well. I really like how great they did in this game and my personal favorite boss theme has to be fighting the Four Elemental Lords, it really fit the whole thing. Tellah was one of my personal favorite characters, as well as Kain.
Overall 10/10. Final Fantasy IV lives on in the hearts of old school gamers and contemporary fans of Final Fantasy. This game to me is one of the best and my favorite Final Fantasy games of all time.
