Plot. The story begins in the peaceful kingdom of Guardia, in the year 1000. A young man named Crono was anxious to enter the fair which celebrated the Kingdom's 1000th year. He goes to see his best friend Lucca, who is a Bulma-style genius girl. And on his way, he stumbles with Marle, who is the Princess of Guardia, Nadia. When they try Lucca's new invention, the princess goes back 400 years in time, and he sets out with his friend to save her, when they return, he is apprehended, since he is thought to be the princess' captor. When they escape, they discover the future and a diary showing the world's destruction in 1999. Soon, they meet with different allies such as Robo, Frog, Ayla, and former enemy Magus, and set off on an epic quest to save the world from Lavos, and change history as well.
Music and Sound. The music is excellent and Square did perfect in combining Yasunori Mitsuda's talent, Nobuo Uematsu's memorable performance, and Noriko Matsueda's as well. The sound effects were most astounding as well. In anime sequences in the PS version, you could hear the sound effects that were used in the Dragon Ball series, which you might get a big deja vu experience of that show. The most memorable themes in the game are: the main theme, fight against Masamune monster, Magus's theme, and so on.
History. Chrono Trigger has a memorable history and that game never gets old. After the game's success, the series had two sequels: Chrono Cross, which did not met the same success as it's predecessor and Radical Dreamers, which was a side story, and more complete than the CC game. Chrono Cross did not had any anime sequences like RD, instead it had CGI sequences, or FMV's if you like.
Memories. There were so many memorable moments in the game such as the unbearable scene with Robo and his former partners, Chrono fighting to the death against Lavos, and his emotional reunion with the girl he loves, Marle. I also decided to let Magus join the party instead of fighting him, because in my opinion, he's my most favorite character in the game, right next to Ayla, Robo, Frog, Crono, Marle and Lucca. I also really like how Magus' three minions were named after famous rockstars such as: Ozzie (Ozzy Osbourne), Slash (Guns and Roses) and Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers). We all thought Flea was a girl, but in fact it is a transsexual character.
Bad Aspect. There were some things I did not like for instance, after defeating Azala, she gets to be a little bitch. I also hated that False Chancellor at 1000 A.D., even if not guilty, you still get the death sentence. I swear, that second Yakra dude was pissing me off. And Queen Zeal, ugh, I just can't stand that bitch. I hated one of the parts of the third form of Lavos, the right part, whenever you hit it, it was like it was tickling him.
Good Aspect. The game is very unique in it's style, story, gameplay, music and the many things that gamers will enjoy to play.
Overall. This game is perfect for an RPG, I give this game a 10 out of 10.
