Jetman is the fifteenth season of the Super Sentai saga, and it the costumes are heavily inspired by the ones in Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, which was created by Tatsunoko. Super Sentai is Tokusatsu and Gatchaman is Tatsunoko. This is my favorite Super Sentai as it has an awesome gameplay, graphics, and more.
Plot. The year is 199X, taking place on the Earth Ship, a command center of an international defence agency called Sky Force, the guardians of peace. In the ship, a group of scientists create the "Birdonic Waves", a newly developed technology capable of giving it's human users superhuman abilities, converting them into the ultimate fighting force. However, an attack by enemies from another dimension destroys the ship, killing many people, including Ryu Tendo's lover Rie. The four remaining Birdonic Waves fall onto four civilians, and they are recruited to become the Birdman Squadron Jetman, and fight to put an end to Vyram's schemes.
With each hit they land, they obtain points filling a four level power gauge, when full, it allows the player to perform special attacks. And in each stage, you battle against Vyram's soldiers until you get the the boss, which is a giant beast based on the ones from the show, and you get to battle it on the Great Icarus. When it's power gauge meter is filled as well, it can perform special and ultimate attacks, leading to an epic finish.
Concept. Players choose as one of the five members of their favorite Jetman warriors, and must complete the five first stages and defeat the monsters. Most bosses in the game are based on the monsters from the TV show. After completing all five stages, they gain access to the lair of the final boss.
Design. The game is a 2D sidescrolling platform game, and the sprites remind me to those of Batman: The Video Game, which was cool. The game's design is actually better than the one that Zyuranger has. The stages are very well made, and this game is very unique in it's style, because it mimics the world of the TV show and the action of the Super Sentai saga.
Music. The music is very well done, and the boss theme turns out to be very epic. I really liked how the music mimicked that of the television show as well, and the intro is pretty epic as well.
History. Chojin Sentai Jetman was very popular, even more than Zyurangers. This was originally going to be the basis for Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but instead they chose Zyurangers. Jetman has spawned not only a video game, but also adult oriented novels and manga.
Rantings. I'm not too fond of playing as Blue Swallow and White Swan, I just don't like using their blasters. The girls were fast, but pretty weak. Also, Yellow Owl's attacks were not as cool, but still he kicked ass.
Good Aspects. Red Hawk and Black Condor were my best characters in the game, and the two sword wielding heroes were the major kick ass factor of the game. Also, this game has great qualities as a Super Sentai video game, because the gameplay is less complicated than that of Zyuranger. In this game, you can choose four difficulty settings, enter a password, or go into battle mode to fight any of the five monsters in the game.
Overall. This game has lots of replay value, more than Zyuranger anyways. This game gets a 8 out of 10.
