Plot. The story takes place five years after the events of Modern Warfare. The world has changed, and relations are strained between Russia and the USA. The Ultranationalist Party has seized political control of the country, and Imran Zakhaev is seen as a hero and martyr. In Afghanistan, a U.S. Army Ranger named Joseph Allen, is recruited by General Shepherd to go on a Co-op mission in order to arrest a mass murderer named Vladimir Makarov, an Ultranationalist who is loyal to Zakhaev. But unfortunately things go disturbingly wrong as Allen was compromised. Meanwhile, Task Force 141, led by John Soap MacTavish, the main character of Modern Warfare, continues to battle sympathizers of the Ultranationalist forces. Then the Rangers, battle against the Russians as they invade the United States of America. Truly a story of intrigue, suspense and disturbing revelations.
Concept. In Campaign mode, you go on 19 different missions where you fight against the enemies of the U.S.A and England. You play at first as Joseph Allen in the first two missions of the game as a US Army Ranger, then you play as him again in one of the games most shocking, disturbing and controversial missions. You also play the role of Roach in Task Force 141, and in some point in the game you once again play as Soap. In Special Ops, you play many different challenges to test your skills in the battlefield, in Veteran mode it will take like almost forever to beat these missions. While on campaign, you collect enemy intel. But doing all those things will get you many trophies. As usual in campaign, you start with the basics of firing from your hip, aiming down your sights, using grenades, etc.
Tips and Strategies. In some missions sniping is the best way to take down multiple enemies. Also this game introduces a new weapon, the Predator. In which players take a small computer out and shoot missiles from the sky to take down multiple enemies. Using Claymores and Flashbangs can prove more than efficient against your enemies. In the mission Wolverines!, smoke grenades are very useful, especially in Veteran Mode
Trophies. Modern Warfare 2 has 50 trophies, and they are obtained by doing things such as: beating the whole game in veteran mode, achieving objectives, getting all enemy intels, completing Special Ops missions in veteran mode, and so on. My favorite trophy of the game is Red Dawn, which is obtained by completing Wolverines! and Exodus, on Veteran Difficulty. The trophy Turistas is a reference to the 2007 horror movie of the same name in which is obtained by completing Takedown and The Hornets Nest, ironically taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Red Dawn trophy is a reference to the 1984 movie of the same name, starring the late Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen. Wolverines! is a reference to Red Dawn, which is the name of a resistance guerrilla group started by high school students when Russia invades the USA.
Rantings. Some of my rantings include the mission No Russian. This mission highly disturbed me as you have to kill civilians in that mission. This mission has caused controversy since it looked highly realistic as if there was a school shooting like those incidents at Columbine High School in 1998, and the Virginia Tech shootings in 2007. My other rantings are the dogs, gosh, for some reason I just can't stand them, they are highly annoying, and Veteran mode will make you want to break your PS3 or XBOX 360 controller.
Good Aspect. I really liked not only the graphics like some of the gamer noobs of today. There are some things in the game that are said, and most of them are really true like: In order to make history, you need good liars as well. The death quotes also return as usual in every COD game. I also really liked the references they made to Red Dawn, Turistas, Cloverfield and so on. The storyline was very well written and planned, I really liked that.
Overall. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was the first game I bought for my birthday on the PS3. I really loved this game, and I love playing with my friends and people from around the world, so my rating is 9.8/10
