Plot. In this game, it has been a short time after Harvey Dent, a former district attorney was turned into Two-Face by Gotham's most ruthless mob boss, Sal Maroni. Shortly thereafter, Edward Nygma's project was rejected by Bruce Wayne, after he positively told him that his project can be harmful, driven by hate and anger he became, "The Riddler". Then Two-Face kills Robin's family at Gotham Circus. The two caped crusaders join together to stop both Two-Face and the Riddler.
Concept. The concept of the game is to guide Batman and Robin through seven different stages, battling many henchmen along the way. First you start in the halls and cells of Arkham Asylum, battling the inmates who have taken control of the facility. Then you go to Gotham Bank, where the movie actually begins, after that it's Gotham Circus, the Warehouse, and so on. Until you get to fight against Two-Face, his henchwomen Sugar and Spice, and finally The Riddler himself. You beat the game after beating them, and saving the beautiful psychologist Dr. Meridian Chase.
Co-op Game. Players can play cooperatively, and there are two ways to play it. Batman and Robin share the same credit and cannot harm each other. In another mode, Batman and Robin can harm each other, but still they have to look out for enemies on the way, while having separate credits.
Design. The game is rendered in 2D, and characters are sprite rendered.
History. The game is mainly based on the movie of the same name. There are also many games available for different consoles and handhelds such as: Genesis, Game Boy, PC, and Sega Game Gear. However, the Game Boy version had no co-op.
Rantings. For one thing, the game is short and very nerve-wrecking, because it is a very hard game. When fighting above the giant safe in the second stage, fighting all those enemies was very excruciating since sometimes they would take out their weapons and throw you from the safe "King Leonidas' Sparta Style". Another stage that I hated was the Gotham Circus, since you had five minutes before the bomb detonated, fighting or many henchmen and getting some watches in order to save time.
Good Aspect. The "Mortal Kombat" style look of the game was ok. The game was good and all, but I still think that Batman Returns was a better game than this one. I remember that I used to play this game as a kid with my friends and even with my cousins. Batman Forever is a good game, but most believe that the Genesis version was better than the SNES one.
Overall. The game is good, but it's short and tough. I give this game a 5.6 out of 10
